Another Leaked Data Case, Kominfo Response Infuriates Cyber Experts And Netizens
Again and again since last August, Indonesia's personal data has been leaked, after the data of 17 PLN customers, Indihome customer data and now SIM Card registration data that has NIK in the data has also been leaked. More than once this data leak incident has occurred, so what is the response from Kominfo?
Yes, this data leak case has occurred again, now the leaked data is SIM Card registration data where the data contains the NIK of each registered SIM Card, it is estimated that there are around 1.3 billion leaked data. Again, the hacker is also the same account, Bjorka.
Alfons Tanujaya as a cybersecurity expert from Vaksincom deeply regrets this incident, because the Ministry of Communication and Information several years ago issued a regulation where every SIM Card user must register by providing population information so that it can be used and guarantee that the data will be safe. But in fact now the data is leaking and according to Alfons Kominfo seems to be hands off on this incident.
Alfons also regretted the response from Kominfo which said that the leaked data did not come from Kominfo and Kominfo's claim that only 20% of the leaked data was valid. Meanwhile, the sample data provided has been checked randomly by Alfons and the result is 100% valid, which means that the data is authentic data.
Apart from Alfons, netizens also regretted the response from the Director General of Aptika of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Semuel Abrijani Pengerapan, who told hackers not to attack Indonesian data. Bjorka who is a data hacker who knows this replied with the quip "STOP BEING AN IDIOT" on the Breached.to forum.
Now Kominfo has begun to move by cooperating with cellular operators, Dukcapil, BSSN, the Police Cyber Crime team, and the Director General of PPI to conduct in-depth investigations related to this incident. Kominfo also asks all parties to work together in maintaining the security of personal data so that no leakage incidents occur again, because maintaining data security and confidentiality is a mandate.
